Review: Nail Water Decals

Have you ever wished that you can have a pretty manicure (with nailart), mess-free, doesn't require any skills really, in less than 5 minutes? YES YOU CAN!

I was more then happy when Bornprettystore.com offer to send me some nail art supplies to try out. Bornprettystore.com is a online site that sells practically everything a girl needs! From nail art materials to make up to bikinis......

This is one of the items sent to me and its so pretty! Kinda reminds me of Chinese vases. Its a purple-ish blue flower nail decal on clear background. You can find this nail decal here.

It's really simple to use these nail decals. First, paint your nails two coats of the colour you fancy. I chose white. Second, cut out that piece of nail decal you're using and soak it in water for about 10 secs. Lightly touch the surface to check if the decal is ready. If it moves, it's ready! Next, place the decal on your nails. I find that using a tweezer makes it alot more easier. Choose your design placing, and press it on your nails. Remove any excess with a nail file, cuticle pusher or a cuticle cutter. I used nail file to remove excess on the nail tips and either a cuticle pusher or cutter to remove excess from the sides and cuticle area. Lastly, top it off with top coat and that's it!

Super love the end result! It definitely helps save time and very suitable for busy girls who still wants to have pretty nails. Even for me on days when I'm lazy or running out of time, I use nail decals to spice up my manicure. They are great as they are really thin and you won't be able to tell or feel there's a decal on your nails and they look real.

Etude House Glitter top coat PBK803

I bought a few glitter top coats from Etude House sometime ago and didn't get to use them on my nails yet. Today I'm running out of time so I wanted to do a fast mani and what's easier then topping your nail colour with some glitters?

There are stripes, squares & hexagon glitters in different size & colour in the clear polish. The colour theme is black, white, pink & silver. It does look a little like those indie polishes which are very popular these days. It all depends on how much glitters you'd like to have on your nails, I had two coats of the glitter polish and I felt it started to look a little "messy". I would say one coat is enough, play with it and place them where you want them to be. By the way, I had Essie "Fiji" as my base colour.

Color Club Halo Hues - Cosmic Fate

When Color Club introduced their halo hues collection, I was like "I need to have them!". But sad to say, there's no Color Club nail polishes in Singapore. I managed to get mine from a nail polish supplier that brings in different brands of nail polishes. So happy! This is my first and only bottle of Color Club & also holo polish and I love it!

I bought Cosmic Fate because its so pretty (so were the others!) !!! This is the swatch on my fingers. Its very pigmented and can definitely be a one-coater. Can you tell which of my fingers have two coats and which has one coat? Haha, two coats on my index & pinky and one coat on my middle & ring finger. Although it could be a one-coater but I felt two coats look better! I really like the consistency, its more on the thinner side so its easier to apply. I think it looks great under the sun too but I didn't get to capture that!

Etude House Ice Cream Nail Polish Review

Finally swatches up! I bought these super cute nail polishes from Etude House a few weeks ago. I believe there's 7 colours in the collection but I only got these 5 which I really like! They are retailed at S$3.90 each and are all creme polishes. The consistency is somewhat thick but the colour is super pigmented and pretty! So I have a love & hate relation with these polish because it can get a little tricky to apply. I had two coats on for all the polishes.

First up, #PP501 is a very light pastel lavender. It almost look pink in the photos. This colour is pretty and feminine. It's also has a glossy finish, I didn't put any top coat on.

#BL601 is a gorgeous turquoise blue which I think is somewhat similar to Essie "In the Cab-Ana". This is my favourite in the collection. It makes my skin look fairer. I had Seche Vite top coat on.

Natural daylight

#GR701 is a pastel lime green. It's a little more difficult to apply (I don't know why!) and gets a little streaky but still a very nice colour and so Spring!

#OR202 is a light pastel orange. I love this colour too! It's soft and doesn't shout orange in your face. But it's also a little difficult to apply, tends to be streaky. It will be better with a top coat.

#PK001 is a gorgeous bubble gum pink! Another favourite of mine. It's easy to apply and not streaky. I had  Poshe top coat on.

Overall I'm very happy with the colours but not with the consistency. It will be perfect if its not that thick but it's good to have these in your collection because they are so cute!

Essence Home Sweet Home Nail Polish

I bought two nail polishes from the Essence Home Sweet Home collection since it launched in early April but I totally forgot about them! I got "Hot Fruit Punch" and "Berry Me Home". The colour shown in their advertisment is actually brighter than actual.
Credit to: Essence Cosmetics Singapore Facebook page

Here's the swatch for "Hot Fruit Punch". I love this colour! It gave me zero problem and its so shiny on it's own. This is taken without top coat and with 2 coats of nail polish. It's a dark maroon purplish colour. The consistency is great and it can be a one-coater.

Then there's "Barry Me Home". Its a dark berry red, burgundy kind of colour but under sunlight it looked actually like red! I don't fancy this nail polish as much as "Hot Fruit Punch". First of all, I prefer the colour in "Hot Fruit Punch". Secondly, this polish gave me bubbles! You can see tiny bubbles in the photo below. I had two coats on.

Then I decided to top it off with this XXXL Shine Gel-Look top coat I just bought (instead of the usual Seche Vite). I have been looking for alternatives to Seche Vite because I heard its harmful to us due to the chemicals in it.

It looked much better! Bubbles were lesser and it was super shiny! But it does drag a little bit. Make sure to put lots of the top coat on the brush before you brush on your nails.

BUT!!!! Horror happened. It took a long time to dry and it totally messed up my nails! More bubbles appeared and I had marks and finger prints all over.

I don't have these problems with Seche Vite. So now I guess I'll have to stick with Seche Vite despite the chemicals in it because it really is an amazing top coat!

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy

I would say I have a love and hate relationship with this nail polish. The colour was gorgeous but it's so hard to put on! It was streaky and show drag lines. I had two thick coats on with SV top coat. Its funny how this polish dries kinda matte and it does not look nice without top coat. Top coat actually smooths it out and makes it less streaky and made the colour pop. The formula is on the thicker side and the colour is like a pinky coral neon. I used it for one of my recent nailart and got a lot of comments on how nice this colour is so I decide to give it a swatch review! I also had trouble taking the real colour of this colour! Nevertheless, a very summery colour!

Blue for Autism Awareness

April's Autism Awareness month and blue is the colour for this awareness campaign. I just bought this Etude House nail polish the other day and I'm loving it so far. Its a light blue creme polish with big & small glitters in it. There are gold, bright blue & royal blue hex glitters, small gold square glitters and tiny blue round glitters.

The consistency is not too thick nor thin. It applies a little sheer on the first coat but with two coats it was fine. Same problems with other multi-glitter polishes, placement of glitters must be done manually. If you scoop too much glitter on the brush, it will look like chunk of glitters overlapping each other. Not nice I would say. Slow and steady wins the race! Once again, korean polishes had no names so this is number PPP503.

China Glaze Passion For Petals

This awesome colour is from the China Glaze Spring 2013 Avant Garden Collection. It's a bright pink creme with a little hint of dark coral and mauve. In some angles it does look a little red. It doesn't look that bright on bottle as compared to on the nails. It's a pretty colour for Spring and Summer. I had two coats on but this polish works well with one coat too. Formula is very pigmented, slighty on the thicker side just like the typical China Glaze nail polishes, and it is not streaky at all.

OPI Suzi's Hungary Again!

This awesome colour is from the Euro Centrale Collection 2013. It's a bright pink with a hint of coral in it. The actual colour can't really show on camera but I took a few swatches to show you the colour. This colour really makes me happy! By the way, I had three coats on with Seche Vite top coat. It was pretty streaky on the first two coats and a third will be perfect. The formula is thin so you can definitely built it up.

I think this picture shows the most true colour of Suzi's Hungary Again!.

Essence Nail Polish

I posted my Essence nail polish haul on Instagram two days ago and asked if you guys want to see the swatches and so here are the swatches! It's my first time doing a batch of nail polish swatches and oh man, it really takes time! Putting on the polishes didn't take alot of time but it's photo taking that took the most time! Nonetheless, I had a great time!

I initially went to Watsons wanting to get the new "Ready for Boarding" collection but I ended up with other Essence Colour & Go polishes as well! Problems of a nail polish addict. Haha.

There are 6 nail polishes in the "Ready for Boarding" collection - 5 colour polishes and 1 peel of base coat which is think is the highlight of this collection. The colours that I got are Exit on Your Right, Via Airmail and Destination Sunshine.
